I'm adding something awkward to your to-do list this week, but it will be worth facing.

Updated: Nov 19, 2020

I have never known a difficult situation that improved when everyone pretended like it wasn't happening. Have you?

Sometimes the awkward feelings and fears of having tricky conversations cause us to avoid important issues for days, weeks, or even years.

Avoiding what could be a moment of awkward feelings can cause years of stress and dysfunction.

Enjoy this slightly embarrassing story and accept my challenge this week:

I challenge you to have one awkward conversation this week. At home, at work, with a charity or cause that you support.

Pick one thing that has been stressful or irritating and commit to having that conversation. Facing facts and dealing with the dilemma is the fastest way to improve things, my friends.

Remember that the conversation itself will be much less time than all the time you've spent thinking, dreading, and worrying about it.

When you step up and lead, you show everyone around you how to do the same.
